About / Independent explanations
Our evidence standard
We write for curious non-specialists who want to understand not just what a polar finding says, but why the evidence supports it.
Explanation, not expedition reporting
Tovelpolarbuddis is an independent informational website. It is not a university, research institute, conservation charity or expedition operator. We do not present the photographs on these pages as evidence from fieldwork conducted by this website.
Our purpose is to explain established scientific mechanisms, give readers useful distinctions and point toward organizations that publish measurements and assessments. Links to those organizations do not imply their endorsement or an affiliation.

What a reader should be able to find
The quantity
We distinguish extent from thickness, surface height from mass and a wildlife sighting from a population estimate.
The mechanism
We explain the physical or ecological connection in ordinary language before introducing technical terms.
The limit
We identify where an observation is local, where interpretation requires assumptions and where uncertainty changes what can be concluded.
The route to a source
Topic pages link to established data providers, research organizations and assessments for further reading.
Images are context, not proof
A dramatic photograph can make a place feel real without establishing a trend. Our captions label imagery as illustrative unless a documented measurement is being shown. Conceptual diagrams explain relationships and are not substitutes for measured datasets.
Corrections and useful challenges
If a statement seems inaccurate, send the page name, the passage and a source that helps explain the issue. Distinguishing a factual correction from a difference in framing makes review more useful. Do not send confidential records or sensitive wildlife locations.
These pages are explanatory guides, not live monitoring products. For current conditions, operational decisions or formal research, consult the original provider and check the date, version and applicable guidance.
